Ricardo understands that home ownership can be life-changing. He has completed ten, week-long, builds along-side future homeowners with Habitat for Humanity. Home ownership provides safety, security, dignity and a sense of satisfaction. People can thrive in society when their basic needs are achieved through home ownership. He also dedicates his free time to honoring our veterans, military members and their families. So far, he has taken 2,595 veterans to see their Memorials in Washington, DC over 20 volunteer trips.
Dr. Fernandez continues to teach continuing education courses with 100% of the proceeds going to charity. So far, he has taught 25 courses which have raised $58,700 for various charities. Ricardo was named the Physical Therapist of the Year by the Illinois Physical Therapy Association and received the American Physical Therapy Association Humanitarian Award. He was inducted into the Moraine Valley Community College Alumni Hall of Fame in 2026.
Gina M. Fernandez

Gina is thankful to have always had the security of a home with family. This appreciation has made her a supporter of Habitat for Humanity to help others. She is a registered dietitian, with a concentration in oncology, with over 30-years of experience in the acute care setting. Gina was registered as a WAGs team with three of her therapy dogs in Illinois and later became an Intermountain Therapy Animals volunteer with two therapy dogs in Montana. Gina is a dedicated supporter of our military, veterans and their families. She hosted sailors from Naval Station Great Lakes at her home for Thanksgiving for 10 consecutive years. Gina also enjoyed cooking and serving people who were homeless through a program called PADS at Sacred Heart Church in Illinois.
